About four years ago, Felipe Pepe decided to take on a task that seemed impossible: compiling a book describing the history of RPG games for computers. To assist him in his mission, he began contacting journalists, industry professionals, and fans of the genre who wrote short articles on hundreds of titles. Then the CRPG Book was born.
Over time, the project has attracted the attention of several famous people such as George Weidman, Chris Avellone, Tim Cain and Ian Frazier, clearly showing that the community needs a document that records the rich history of these types of games and expectations have happened for the book to be completed as soon as possible. .

I myself regret that I only found out about the initiative last year, so I did not have time to publicize it earlier, and if there is any good side to my failure, it was that the wait for the final version of the CRPG Book was not long. A very nice detail about the CRPG Book is that aside from the analysis, it also contains mod suggestions and tips on how to run some games on newer hardware. As this is something that tells about so many very old titles, it’s nice to see the people involved have tried to show us how to enjoy these classics.
It is also important to say that it is not excluded the possibility of increasing the number of books in the future, as well as hitting the physical version to bookstores, and if this happens, all proceeds from sales will be donated to charity.
For those who like RPGs or want to learn a little more about the history of the gaming industry, something like the CRPG book becomes practically a must-have, especially considering it’s distributed for free.
