My lips pressed to the tiny glass and I threw my head back. The only thing that burned my throat more than these clear liquids was seeing him hold your hand. The one night I couldn't forget was when we lay in my back yard staring at the stars, none of them shined as bright as her. I remember when those five words slurred from her lips. " I'm in love with you." It's funny. Those little words used to mean so much to her , and now they're probably said to you, it's a familiarity I wish I didn't have to witness. The way she holds your hand like if she let's go, you'll disappear . sadly in my case, she was the one to disappear. Another shot warms my chest . The memory's fade and the hurt is no longer there. Jake, Darwin, Adam and I left the stale smelling school bathroom. "Nika , what provoked the thought of drinking four shots in second period ?" Jake laughed out at me. "The thought of getting through the day sober , is so terrifying."
