The Professional Gambler
Let me start by explaining the purpose of this article. The Professional Gambler is not the flamboyant player you see creating a lot of noise and calling attention to himself. The professional gambler does not make the high-roller wagers. No, the real pro is a calm, reserved, committed player. Professional gamblers know that gambling is something that is a business. It is a profitable business.

Professional gamblers do not "go out for a whole day (or night) of gambling." The professional will never think that they'd be out playing all night. In fact, a professional will typically know within the first 30 minutes of playing whether to keep playing or end the day. If a professional gambler decides to gamble, it's solely to be successful, not to entertain himself and others. This is work. This is work. It's difficult to determine the time it will take either to win enough or to lose enough. However, a pro can recognize these limitations and possess the ability and discipline to act according to the rules.

There are times when you may have played with the professional. Most likely, you will not remember it. There's nothing to draw attention to the professional player except for the fact that he is ahead only to quit! He doesn't stay around and play because he or she is "out to enjoy a night of gambling." If professional gamblers are looking to entertain themselves they attend a show or a movie. Gambling isn't just an "activity", as most tourists see it. You go to Vegas or Atlantic City and you gamble all through the night. This is exactly what a casual gambler does. They find it very easy to rationalize...something like this; "Well I played all night and it only cost me $200. That's a reasonable amount for entertainment and drinks free. This is the attitude of tourists. Sure, you'll hear about stories of someone who was in Vegas and won millions. It's true. It is likely. But, you will likely hear the tale which says:
"I was up 3 or 4 hundred dollars, but I lost it all back." A professional will never claim such a thing. If someone gambles for a profit they will see that 3-4 hundred is a healthy income and it will soon be gone.

Professional gamblers are guerrilla fighter. They're not there to run a marathon. The professional is in the game to make a profit. It doesn't take long to be a winner or loser, and certainly not every day. They might be able to get a winning streak going, however, the professional will recognize the streak and keep riding through to the end. Most of the time, however, the pro's game will last just enough to earn the day's profit or lose the most. The casino cannot ever see the money that pro players win. The professional is way wiser than casinos a chance.

When it comes to systems professionals are too smart to think that there is really an algorithm that will consistently beat casinos, no matter the game you play. Instead the professional gambler will utilize tested strategies and betting strategies to improve their chances of winning. Very few decisions will actually be made during the course of the game. Most of the time, professional's choices are made prior to even approach the game. Pros will stick to their methods and betting strategies. There is no way to witness a pro ever "chase his winnings." Pros is able to, and will accept the occasional loss. It happens. I like to compare the professional gambler with a salesperson that works strictly on commission. There will be days where you make very little or nothing, and you may even lose money if travel expenses are included. The professional gambler instead, examines the totality of their play. It's not "how much did I lose or win today?" It is more like "How much am I ahead of next month or the in the coming year?"

Professional poker players are an area I'd like to talk about. They're in an elite group of their own! http://www.shagmail.com/online-casino-bonuses-jackpots/ don't consider themselves gamblers. They argue that poker is a game that requires ability and they are extremely skilled. Everything I've written above doesn't apply to professional players. In the next few months, I'll likely write an article on them. They are indeed a fascinating breed!
