The way the economy works is that the rarer an item, the more expensive it is. The more of that particular item available on the market, the lower the value, and therefore the cheaper it becomes. Thus, manufacturing companies will produce many of the same OEM Accessories, sell them to different car parts companies, who in turn will stick their own label on the car part. This keeps the economy, up, without cheapening the OEM part.

Over the years, I learned another little handy trick that seems to help when it comes to saving money on parts for my car. You know all of those old "buy here, pay here" car lots? Well, if you run into one that is locally owned, you may get a little deal on any spare parts that they have laying around. Many times, these spare parts are just lying around and cannot be used for anything in the lot. The owners of these little side car dealerships love to make a fast buck and are often more than willing to part with a few vehicle parts to make some fast cash.

For electronic systems, the short answer to "parts" is Forget it. These systems literally operate the car, and mistakes aren't likely to be pretty. Electronic parts have very short generational shelf lives, and they're usually not up to speed with newer systems after a while. The electronics in this year's car may be OK for some parts in next year's model, but after that, they're not an option and would have to be fully replaced anyway. Just get the current stuff.

Now, if your car is older than 10 to 12 years, you may find it just a little bit difficult to find what you need in one place. In used auto parts , you might want to try approaching those companies that specialize in auto parts. You may also want to try searching for the parts you need on eBay or JC Whitney. These sites are well known for having some of the best finds when it comes to spare parts. What is more important is that these sites can also offer you good bargains.

You should purchase a car that has a history of maintenance. At the same time, it should also provide you with an accident free operation so that you can verify it independently with the help of some vehicle tracking services.
