Blackjack - Where Does it Come From?
Blackjack's origins are not certain. However, many researchers agree that Blackjack most likely originated in the French casinos during the early 1700s. The French cards were also known by the name "Vingt-ets-Un," meaning "twenty-one together". These cards were most likely derived form Chemin de Fer, an old card game, which was very popular at the time.

The earliest evidence that the origin of Blackjack can be traced to France is during the time of apprenticeship. As part of their daily activities, most apprentice jokers used this card game. During this period, gambling was illegal in France so most jokers remained at their blackjack tables. These players would soon develop an intense interest for this type of gambling card game and it would eventually evolve into Blackjack.
