What is BlueHost? Is it a good web host?
Bluehost is one the largest web hosting businesses, having more than 2 million domains.

Bluehost was among those companies included in an analysis of web hosting providers for online collaboration programs.

Bluehost offers shared hosting, WordPress hosting and VPS hosting as well as dedicated and WooCommerce hosting along with professional marketing solutions. Bluehost's servers run on PHP 7 and NGINX+.

Histories

Matt Heaton first conceived Bluehost in 1996. He created two web hosts prior to Bluehost, 50megs.com & 0catch.com.

click here launched CPU throttle in 2009 Bluehost, and other hosting companies provide CPU throttle. It's a procedure that limits the user's CPU usage when they're using too many servers resources. Bluehost will stop the server from freezing or significantly reduce the CPU usage of client websites during that period. namecheap shut down client websites that were hosted on its servers throughout all of the day.

Bluehost was bought through Endurance International Group in 2010. In June 2011, company director Matt Heaton announced on his blog that he was stepping out as CEO in order to concentrate on the hosting platform's structure and design and the COO Dan Handy took over as the new CEO.

Bluehost began dedicated server hosting and VPS hosting in 2013.

Endurance International Group named Mike Olson as CEO of Bluehost in January of 2015. Dan Handy was promoted to mobile application development for smalland medium-sized companies enterprise-wide.

In the month of January, 2017 the company revealed the decision to lay off the 440 Bluehost employees from Utah, in an effort to consolidate its operation in order to provide better customer service.

Controversies


In March 2009 Bluehost featured in a Newsweek piece that criticised the hosting provider for restricting the sites of a number of their customers that were believed to be citizens of countries which government officials of the United States government had listed as states that were considered to be rogue.

In February 2011 Bluehost shut down a religious site that was hosted on its servers after receiving many complaints that the site posted comments accusing gays and lesbians on an earthquake in New Zealand.

In March 2015, Bluehost was hacked by Syrian Electronic Army. Endurance International Group also hacked Justhost, Hostgator and Hostmonster. Fastdomain is another site that was targeted. In January 2019, the publication WebsitePlanet exposed a security vulnerability that affected clients in several of the most renowned hosting providers globally: Bluehost, DreamHost, HostGator, iPage and OVH.
