Glue trap in Raleigh ends daylong search for venomous zebra cobra.
As a result of hours of consultation between law enforcement and animal control officers, a glue trap snared a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
To remove the glue fully from its body, the cobra was guided into a red bucket and moved to a safe location.
WRAL's cameras caught the snake the previous day crawling onto the porch of a house on Sandringham Drive. Lifting its head, its hood could be seen.

When Animal Control officers confirmed the snake was the one they moved camera crews back before they attempted to catch it.
The search was sparked by a 911 call from the same home early Tuesday.

ARLINGTON, N.C. Despite hours of consultation and preparation of law enforcement and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was captured on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, capping an event that garnered attention throughout the state.
To completely remove the glue from its body, the cobra was seated in a red bucket and transported to a safe location.
A striped snake was spotted earlier in the day crawling out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive, onto the front porch of a house. Looking around, its hood was visible as it lifted its head.
When Animal Control officers confirmed the snake was the one they moved camera crews back before they attempted to catch it.
On Tuesday, police searched the same home after receiving a 911 call there.

The ordeal has ended, said Joan Nelson, her neighbor.
It makes me feel much safer, she said. After spending time on my deck, I feel like I can go outside now. It's very sad for the snake, though.
There has been a missing zebra cobra in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a striped snake is laying out on a porch.
The snake, a zebra cobra, can spit up to 9 feet and is faster than most snakes, making even a morning walk with the dog scary. Consequently, the African Snakebite Institute says the snake is very dangerous. Venom can cause the nervous system to shut down in victims.
Anyone who has been poisoned by the cobra will feel pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. A severe fever and breathing issues could cause respiratory failure.
At Avian and Exotic Animal Care, veterinarian Salina Locke treats all kinds of pets.
The cobra species in this group doesn't typically bite. Generally, they squirt their venom a lot and shoot straight for the eyes, she said.
Despite the risks involved, Locke does not recommend keeping this snake as a pet.
Bite incidents are most common during sleep. Researchers found that bit individuals could suffer health issues for years to come.
There was a police search of 6917 Chamonix Place Tuesday afternoon, near the street where the last sighting of the cobra was reported.
Four officers were dispatched to that home for an animal issue in March. Zebra cobras were seen on a porch a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday, after this was initially reported.
Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address, according to county records. A Facebook account associated with Keith Giffords name shows several images of snakes that he claims his son Christopher owns.
