A glue trap ends a days-long search in north Raleigh for a venomous zebra cobra.
Following many hours of consultation and preparation by officers from Raleigh police and animal control, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
It was taken to a safer location to be fully cleaned after it was guided into the bucket and guided out.
An earlier video interview had captured a striped snake crawling onto a porch on Sandringham Drive from the siding of a house. While raising its head to take a look around, its hood was visible.
Before moving in to capture the snake, Animal Control officers moved camera crews to the back.
This same residence had called 911 early Tuesday, sparking the search.

Raleigh is a North Carolina city. Following hours of consultation and preparation by Raleigh police and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was captured with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, capping a 48-hour saga that attracted national attention.
Cobra was placed in red bucket and moved to a safe location to fully remove glue from its body.
The WRAL cameras captured the striped snake crawling out of the siding of a Sandringham Drive house, onto the front porch. A hood was visible wherever it turned its head.
After confirming it was a snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back of the area and attempted to capture it there.
On Tuesday, police searched the same home after receiving a 911 call there.

The ordeal has ended, said Joan Nelson, her neighbor.
It makes me feel much safer, she said. It feels good to be outside now, even walking on my deck. The snake, however, was in a terrible position.
A striped snake lies out on a porch in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has disappeared.
The snake, a zebra cobra, is extremely fast and can spit up to nine feet away, making a walk with the dog even scarier. In the opinion of the African Snakebite Institute, snakes are very dangerous. The venom can cause the nervous system to shut down.
A person hit by the poison would experience pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. Afterward, a fever and breathing problems would result, possibly resulting in respiratory failure.
A veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, Salina Locke, treats all sorts of animals there.
Cobras of this species do not bite. The venom is more likely to spray because they are very accurate and go straight for the eye, she said.
She is not recommending it for pets, due to its risks.

Sleeping is when most bites occur. Bite victims can experience health problems for decades, research shows.
There was a police search of a home near 6917 Chamonix Place where a cobra was last observed on Tuesday afternoon.
A police officer visited that home four times in March for an animal issue. They returned on Monday and Tuesday after the zebra cobra was discovered on a porch about a half mile away.
The records of the county show Rebecca and Keith Gifford live at the address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Giffords name shows several images of snakes that he claims his son Christopher owns.
The TikTok account of Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers. The author of the post claims to have a seven-foot zebra cobra.
