Enjoy the convenience of airport VIP services when you fly
What would you pay for the privilege to bypass customs and security lines at the airport: $100? Or four grand?

There are an increasing number of airport concierge companies promising to ease flight stress to frequent fliers, whether they're leaving or arriving.

These concierge companies are a fast-growing segment. Michael Holtz, the owner of SmartFlyer, a global travel consultancy specializing in airports and airlines, said at least ten airport concierge companies have launched in the past three years. He said their popularity has increased as more people fly more frequently and grow tired of the hassle. This service is perfect if you're short on time, hate waiting in line, or simply want to feel like a VIP, Holtz said.

VIP Airport Service The services that travelers can purchase online, over the phone, or through travel agents can cost between $100 and $4,000 and include expedited security access, help with getting VAT refunds, and access to private lounges. A number of established players in this under-the-radar industry are reporting upticks as well. For Albert Herrera, vice president of global product partnerships for Virtuoso, VIP airport services still represent less than 2 percent of the company's $22 billion in revenue, but the percentage has jumped by four times since 2012. Flyers can book different tiers of service, but how many tiers they choose depends on their airport. On the most basic level, travelers are assigned a greeter who will accompany them all the way from the airport to their flight; they can check in and get assistance with their carry-on luggage. (This is particularly useful for families with children or for unaccompanied minors.) The middle tier customers get streamlined security and immigration procedures in most countries. A full-scale luxury production involves spending a lot on the highest level of service. Blacklane PASS was launched this summer as an offshoot of the Blacklane car service company. Its customers get escorted through security, customs, and immigration, and the company handles their luggage and VAT refunds. You can browse Duty Free on your departure from the airport if a greeter is waiting to call you when it's time to board. Once you exit the luxury plan, they'll be waiting for you at the gate when you get off. Few travelers after 9-11 have experienced this privilege. There is one caveat: Unless you have access to lounges on your own, Blacklane will charge you extra.
