Because you cannot depend on WiFi at the top of a mountain, I make sure my kids are prepared for travel when they are with me.

Yes, that's what I said.. My children believe that the WiFi on the top of the mountain only has weak signals. It's not that big, but it is slightly above the normal wireless network, so my children need to search for the best spot to get faster internet while me and my wife have set up a small camping site. We plan to stay here for at least one day. The tiny brook is right next to us and is a source of water for our camp. Yes.. My wife cannot camp without enough water. Therefore, we always carry our own.

So my kids are back on their social media profiles, and I am taking in the view.. It's not a lot, but it is surrounded on all sides by higher hills. To be in close proximity to Mother Nature we go here at least once during the blue moon. These trips are my favorite and I'm the only one who loves these trips. It's my wife that insists of doing this, maybe partially because she knows how much I enjoy being in the wild. My kids are very different. The thing I dislike is that Internet is sometimes unavailable. We decided to prepare after experiencing a few frustrating trips without internet, where the standard internet service on our smartphones was not working properly. We, which includes my wife and I, decided to plan to be prepared for the event that our children won't have internet for longer than 10 minutes. We came up with two sources of entertainment that we can access whenever the internet isn't available during our camping trips. The second was a tablet that contained music videos and charts. Additionally, the majority of songs we already had on my laptop which meant it was only the matter of copying a few files. In the event that someone was getting bored or blue, they could listen to music, view videos, and - lucky for us all - listen to music with blue tooth connected headphones. This is pretty cool, don't you think? It's quiet from that gadget..

The second tablet was mostly cartoons, as well as TV shows that were downloaded via Hulu, Netflix and other apps. This permits offline storage that allows for saving the videos to watch later. The quality is not great but it's still something. We have many seasons of Breaking Bad there and many shows like Family Guy and Disenchantment. Very entertaining. The process was easy to use. Simply install the apps, activate downloads for offline watching Download episodes, then mark them to download. Tablet 2 arrived one or 2 times after tablet 1 however, once it was joined by our family at The Wild, my kids were unable to put it down to watch shows and use it for gaming. I personally added some DIY vides there like putting up the tent, and then skinning fresh caught fish.. You might not be able to find these tasks in the city. A few of the videos I downloaded from Youtube then converted them into MP4 files and then downloaded to my tablet. It's so much more easy to have video on your tablet while doing something else.


These two tricks have kept my children occupied throughout the four family camping trips. They don't mind leaving the house now - they know tablet 2 will help them get through boring downtime and will return it home when they're ready. It's everything I've ever wanted - being with my loved ones.
