Hydro jetting: what is it?
View Website of high pressure water and special nozzles to clean a pipe's interior is known as hydro jetting, also called drain jetting or sewer jetting. A hydrojet is an effective and efficient method for removing many types of obstructions from pipes. This can also be a preventative maintenance measure if the pipes are prone to chronic blockage, especially if the blockage is due to grease or sludge buildup.

How it works:
Using hydro jetting, nozzles are attached to a lightweight, high strength hose that has a slick coating on the outside so that it slides easily within a pipe. In order to use the nozzle, the end of the hose is attached to the pipe. This is followed by the pumping of high-pressure water at 4000 psi through the hose. Through precision drilled holes in the nozzle, water is expelled as jets. In a nozzle, there are usually many jets. One or more of the jets face forward and/or outward, back along the hose. By bringing the nozzle and hose into the line, the jets at the back also clean the pipe's wall. Flow-forward nozzles bore a hole through a blockage, allowing the nozzle to pass through and clean the pipe


Hydro jetting machines have a wide selection of nozzles, allowing them to clean pipes in general as well as perform more specific tasks, such as removing grease buildup and cutting roots, and descaling cast iron pipes. Residential
Your sewer and drain pipes in your home can be effectively maintained with hydro jetting. A sewer line can become blocked with sludge collected in stomachs. Standard drain machines can run their cable through sludge and back again without removing it since the sludge is thick enough to seal around the cable. Once the cable is removed, the sludge seals back up around the cable. In order for the sludge to flow out of the pipe, it must be diluted with a jetter. In addition to aggressively cutting roots in the sewer pipe, a hydro jetter can also remove them using special nozzles. When the jets from a jetter nozzle are used in conjunction with a sewer inspection camera, they can completely eliminate roots completely, unlike the cable machines that cut a hole roughly the size of the cutter. Dishwashers, the laundry machine, and showers can cause drain lines to clog with grease and soap buildup. Jetted drains can remove the buildup entirely rather than just creating an opening like cables, greatly reducing the likelihood of the line clogging again.

Commercial
The use of hydro jetting for pipe cleaning in commercial and industrial plants has many applications. Mineral deposits clog boiler drains. Flow is decreased in cast iron pipes when they become scaled. Restaurants
Clogging of restaurant kitchen drains is common. The drain lines can rapidly become clogged with debris from dishwashing, mowing, soda fountain residue, and ice cream makers. If left unchecked, the drain will eventually back up, presenting guests with an unappetizing atmosphere and leading to a health hazard due to the open sewage in the kitchen. If sewage backup occurs at a restaurant, it must close temporarily for food safety reasons.

The drain lines of reputable restaurants are hydro jetted on a regular schedule as part of preventative maintenance. Kitchen drains are typically jetted every 3 months to once a year. The bottom line of the restaurant as well as the safety of guests are benefited by a proactive drain jetting maintenance schedule.

Hydro jetting a dairy drain

Agriculture
Agricultural and dairy companies use hydro jetting extensively. Filtration pipelines become clogged with silt and debris. Straw and manure accumulate in dairy barn drains and separator pipes. By using high-pressure hydro jetting, these blockages can quickly be removed, enabling normal operation to resume.
