Para COVID-19 de leve a moderado: los tratamientos para personas que no están hospitalizadas incluyen dos antivirales orales (Paxlovid™, molnupiravir), mAb (bebtelovimab, sotrovimab) y otros medicamentos (remdesivir, también llamado Veklury®). Estos tratamientos podrían ayudar a su sistema inmunitario a responder de manera más efectiva al virus COVID-19, reduciendo las posibilidades de que sus síntomas empeoren.
Los antivirales orales deben tomarse dentro de los primeros 5 días de aparición de síntomas de COVID-19. Molnupiravir es para pacientes mayores de 18 años. Paxlovid es para pacientes mayores de 12 años que pesan al menos 88 libras. Remdesivir debe tomarse dentro de los primeros 7 días en que aparecen los síntomas de COVID-19. El tratamiento con mAb debe tomarse dentro de los primeros 7 días (bebtelovimab) o 10 días (sotrovimab) desde que aparecen los primeros síntomas de COVID-19.
Remdesivir inicialmente recibió una EUA como tratamiento para las personas Pruebas COVID . A veces también se administra a personas que no están en el hospital.
La FDA ha revocado la EUA de los tratamientos con mAb bamlanivimab/etesevimab y REGEN-COV® (casirivimab más imdevimab), porque la variante de Omicron ha demostrado ser resistente a ambos tratamientos.
Para personas en el hospital con COVID -19 grave: los tratamientos para estos pacientes incluyen el mAb tocilizumab (también llamado Actemra®), medicamentos (Veklury/remdesivir, baricitinib, dexametasona y corticosteroides) y plasma convaleciente.
