I guess the only consistent thing I was noticing was that there were distinctly different strategies out there that worked for different poker stars. Now what? The best one can hope for is to take bits and pieces from all of them to finally make your own. How long would that take? What kind of guarantee is there? None, as you'd imagine.

A continuation bet is a bet you place on the flop after making a raise before the flop. It doesn't have to be a bet with a real hand. It's just any bet you make after a preflop raise. The term has a connotation that associates it with bluffing because most hands with which you raise miss the flop completely. In other words, most continuation bets are bluffs.

Your psychological strategy will involve many different things. Firstly, the image your want to present. The style you want to present. The type of player you want to pretend to be or act like. This can also involve semi-bluffing, bluffing, bullying/scare tactics, reading tells, giving off voluntary tells etc.

The percentages found in the figures are the probability the listed hole cards would win if the hand should go to the river at a full table of nine or ten players. The probability of having Ace-Ace as the hole cards and subsequently winning increases from 31% with nine opponents to over 85% in heads-up play. The reason for this dramatic difference is that in ten-handed play, any of your nine opponents can win the hand. Taking the individual statistics of each of the nine other hands and adding them together, at best, the sum equals 69%.

Other times, you might look like a tightwad and suspect you can take the pot down without much trouble. In that case, feel free to make the bet. If it doesn't work, there's always next time.
