Fixed limit games are the most common types of Texas Hold'Em games. In fixed limit games, there are two different betting amounts, the low and the high betting amounts. For example, if you were playing Texas Hold'Em at a $10-$20 table, the first betting rounds all the bets would have to be made in $10 increments. So if the bet is currently at $10, you could only raise it to $20 or call. Dependent upon the game you are playing, at some point in the game the betting limit would double, so that all the bets would then be made at $20.
On the opposing player side you are trying to play them to increase the degree of error with which they classify your style of play, motivations and actions.
Being able to correctly put another player on a hand and know what cards he has is what separates the winners from the losers. It's what makes the professionals the pros and the amateurs going home broke at the end of the day.
Value betting differs from most other strategies of betting say slow playing, bluffing or may be protection bet. A value bet is opted on a drawing hand. Or may be on made hand. The basic goal is that when there is a affirmative expectation of a player's chance of winning, the pot size should be raised.
You'll find that different things prevent you from making the bets you think you should be making. First and foremost will be psychological triggers and blocks, like being scared to raise out or call.
