ถังซาน (รับบทโดย เซียวจัดจ้าน) อาศัยอยู่ในหมู่บ้านเซิ่งหุน ซึ่งเป็นหมูบ้านเล็กๆบนภูเขากับ ถังเฮ่า บิดาของเขาที่มีอาชีพเป็นช่างเหล็ก แต่ติดเหล้าแล้วก็ขี้เหล้า ถังซานกำพร้าแม่มาตั้งแต่เด็ก เขามักจะถามเรื่องแม่ของเขากับพ่อเสมอ แต่ถังเฮ่าชอบหลีกเลี่ยงที่กล่าวถึงนาง
เพราะเหตุว่าถังซานมีความฉลาดเป็นกรด อ่อนโยนรวมทั้งถ้วนถี่ จนได้ถูกปลุกวิญญาณยุทธ์แล้วก็ได้รู้ว่าตัวเองนั้นมีวิญญาณยุทธ์คู่ ซึ่งมือขวาเป็นวิญญาณยุทธ์ "ต้นหญ้าเงินคราม" ส่วนมือซ้ายมีวิญญาณยุทธ์ "ค้อนเฮ่าเทียน" วิญญาณยุทธ์ทั้งสองช่วยเหลือเกื้อกูลกัน ถังเฮ่าก็เลยบอกกับถังซานว่า เขาจำเป็นจะต้องเปลี่ยนเป็นวิญญาณจารย์ที่เข้มแข็งที่สุดในโต้วหลัว โดยมีพลังและก็หัวใจที่ทรงอำนาจ
ถังซานถูกส่งไปฝึกหัดวิชาที่สถานศึกษานั่วท้วงติง โดยมี อวี้กัง เป็นอาจารย์ และเขายังได้คำสัญญาเป็นลูกพี่ลูกน้องกับสาวน้อยกำพร้าแม่อย่างเสียวอู่ อีกด้วย คุณครูพาทั้งคู่เข้าสถานศึกษาเพื่อเพิ่มพลังวิญญาณ ตรงนั้นเขาได้พบเพื่อนฝูงอีก 6 คน รวมทั้งรวมตัวกันเป็น "เจ็ดประหลาดแห่งสื่อไหลเค่อ" โดยมี ไต้มู่ไป๋ เป็นผู้นำกลุ่ม และก็คนอื่นที่มีบุคลิกลักษณะแตกต่างไป
