Obvious weakness is when an opponent doesn't try to show any strength. This is called a preflop limp. When called you will usually have position on the limper after the flop - when your opponent checks to you fire another bet to take the larger pot there. If you are called twice, you must slow down. However this system works so well that the rare occasion when you are forced to fold is more than compensated by the many times you take down the pot.

After bets have been placed and it is your turn to play again, you can "see" another players bet, which means you match it; or you can "raise" or increase the bet. After you have seen the bet of another player, you can raise your bet. If it appears that your hand just won't win, you have the option to fold, placing all your cards face down on the table, cutting your losses.
