Get over fear for good – Learn how
No matter what your fear is, read below to find out how to beat fear and anxiety for good! Understanding fear
Or, a better question, what is fear altogether? As trivial as the question may sound, we rarely think of fear as being an emotion, yet that is exactly what it is. As with all emotions, they are part of everyone’s life experience on earth. While having its origins well rooted in our evolution, i.e., the fight-or-flight response, modern day living has almost rendered this evolutionary mechanism obsolete.

How is your fear unique to you?
There are universal feelings that we all understand and, to some extent, share. In an attempt to better understand fear, we must ask ourselves, how is our fear any different than others’?

Being afraid of change
A lot of people are, for example, afraid of change. “Change is what defines us as beings, and nothing stays the same for an indefinite period of time.”

In our very biological cycles, we all “wear” a human body which is born, grows (transforms), and then, once it’s served its purpose, dies and decomposes.

This is the normal cycle of life and has been as such since time immemorable. It’s therefore safe to assume that change is natural and that it is the only constant known to us in the whole universe.

Some people get anxious at the thought of moving their homes, environment, or even age. As change is a normal process in life, they should embrace it! Allow change to happen with an open heart, without imposing any limiting beliefs around it.

Fear of missing out
Also known as FOMO or the Fear that things will be running out.

We are led to believe that we should live our lives in scarcity as there isn’t enough to go round for everyone. We’ve been told that we are overpopulating the planet, and there is a concern related to sustainability. We should all bear in mind that the natural state of the universe is actually abundance.

You are made out of 30 trillion cells, and no two people are the same. Therefore, that translates to both abundance and diversity.

Of course, we should care about our environment as humans are actually natural gardeners. However, the capacity of our home planet to feed every single one of us is without question anything but a challenge. Consider all the fertile lands where agriculture is practised for sustainability rather than corporate profit. Now imagine that happening on a global scale.

All of a sudden, no more food goes to waste because there is aboundance. Where there is an abundance, there is no need to hoard. When there is no hoarding, there is no wastage, and so on. It all basically points to simple human greed rather than a general lack of.

Only when you change your mindset from one of scarcity will aboundance show up.

The fear of being alone or abandonment
As social beings, we long to form deep, meaningful connections with other entities surrounding us. And there’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, there is much more that we have in common than we have differences.

So it is understandable that we do not want certain connections to be broken, but as change is inevitable, let’s look at this fear from a different perspective.
As described in one of our previous articles, one of the best ways to deal with fear is to look it in the eye up close. Embrace being alone for some time, because this is the only time when you can actually discover yourself.

When we rejoyce in solitude, we understand better who we actually are as a person and as a spiritual being. Bringing meditation into this fear of being alone will all of a sudden show you the path and provide you with meaningful, real-hard truths.

positive being alone, as you might miss this once change happens and you have to move on.

No matter what your fear is, read below to find out how to beat fear and anxiety for good!

Have you considered sleep hygiene?
Working on oneself implies beginning with the basics. For starters, you should examine your sleep hygiene. I.e., are you scrolling through social media feeds until the wee hours of the morning? Or perhaps you prefer to go to sleep while you “watch” a series on Netflix?

As you can imagine, this can surely have a detrimental effect on the quality of your sleep, and that has a knock-on effect as well on the rest of the day once you’ve woken up.

Sleep hygiene implies disconnecting from the electronic world we live in at least one hour prior to going to bed.

A nice hot shower or even better, a cold one, would certainly signal to your body that your day is about to end and it should enter a rest state. If you’d like to take it a step further, you could even consider a guided sleep meditation. You could also ensure that your environment is welcoming a resting state – consider using incense sticks as aromatherapy which have been proven quite effective in calming the nervous system.

Good stuff in, rubbish out

What you eat has a tremendous impact on how you generally feel. If you’d like to overcome fear, then proper eating and resting are part of the basics. Think about all the foods that you eat and drink this way: they become part of you. In our bodies, on average, about 3 million new cells die each day, and roughly the same number are born. The food and drink that you put in is what fuels these cells. And when you think of the big picture, well, all these cells are becoming a part of you!

Go for natural choices even if they go against your well established habits.

Turn off auto-pilot
Our minds have a tendency to prioritise comfort over everything else. However, we must not allow our lives to be lived on “autopilot.”

Remember, you are always in charge of your spirit, body, and most importantly, your mind. Very little happens without your conscious or subconscious consent.

If you find yourself regularly taking actions on “auto-pilot,” then perhaps it’s a good idea to consider meditation. Practicing meditation develops one’s ability to be conscious of the thoughts generated at a subconscious level. You start to understand who you are, what you normally do when “you’re not thinking” and how to address that. It is quite important that once you notice your automatic thoughts, you address them with love and care, not through prejudice or thoughts of guilt.

After all, you’re working with yourself, so you should really be kind, loving, and understanding, as if you were nurturing your childhood self.

Is there excess fear in your environment?
Many people live in a perpetual state of fear. Fear has become the new norm, especially in recent years, whether it’s related to the pandemic, economic crash, war, and so on.

You must realise by now that fear as an emotion has been hijacked and deployed in order to push narratives and compel people to behave in a certain way.

In other words, fear has been weaponised and used to push agendas and political narratives. One of the most prevalent sources of fear is most of the widely consumed media, whether it is the old-fashioned TV news bulletin or the modern digital version of it, social media. Most of the news has a prevalent negative sentiment for two main reasons: 1-fear grabs attention; 2-fear compels people to behave in a specific, controlled way while abandoning critical thinking.

Fear is limiting people from becoming their best version
Constant highlights of bad omens, end-of-the-world talk shows, hyperinflation, and famine appear to be pointing to impending disaster. And maybe that’s right. But this should not mean that we give up our mental abilities or stop critical thinking.

You must give yourself a chance to grow and better yourself despite what the world looks like from a certain perspective.

Remember, while most people see the same story, not everyone has the exact same feelings and thoughts, as these are related to individual perspectives.

While you might be fretting about what the future has in store for you, others are planning for success. Time will pass regardless, so if you start “sowing” now, you will most certainly reap the benefits later.
And you, no matter how broken the world seems to be, can not fix it on your own.

Of course, you should strive to improve it, and you should certainly make the right choices, but be sure that you keep love and kindness front and center.

It is the only way you will find divine guidance in these convoluted times we live in.

How to get rid of fear once and for all

Simply let go
The main reason why you should let fear simply go is because it blocks manifestation. When one is fearful, that generally creates space for self-doubt.

The truth is that we are powerful beyond our wildest dreams, but we seem to end up undermining and sabotaging ourselves.

This is the reason why you want to let go of fear.

Can you see into the future?
The truth is that no one can see it. Sure, it might be drafted in broad lines, but whatever the future actually holds for us at an individual level is truly out of our control. This goes on to reinforce the idea that if the future has not happened yet, then we do not know for sure what it might bring.

We need to learn to let go of both the past and the future – The key is to paying attention to the present time.

Some people have given up on the future to the point where they fear things will not get better. Once that thought takes control of you, then you stop trying. And when you stop trying, that’s when you say, “ah, I missed the boat,” which leaves room for regrets. It also gives way to a vicious cycle in which, on one hand, you are too afraid to project yourself into the future, as well as making room for regret as things could have turned better. The truth of the matter is that we all have limitless powers, yet our sharpest organ, which is the brain, betrays us, painting the future and the past in bleak colours.

Realistically, you can’t change the past, you can’t change the future, but you can enjoy this present moment. If you do not know where to begin, you could perhaps consider mindfulness practises as a starting point.

The future can represent the unknown—when you tune into the present moment, then you no longer pay attention to the things that you do not know or that you cannot control.

There are things you can’t control
One fear is this: I’m afraid that it’s not going to get better. The fear of things not getting better. Therefore, people settle and they stop trying. I missed the boat. I’m too old to learn. I’m too deep in debt. Fear is an illusion created by your mind. That’s why two things could happen to two people in the same way and one would be afraid and the other wouldn’t.

Remember: Fear is all mental. It’s a mindset; therefore, it can be changed or transformed into something productive.

And the very good news is that every single one of us has the power to do that. Consider practising affirmations and meditation on a regular basis. S

et yourself up for a challenge and solemnly decide: I will pick up a new challenge! I will meditate for a whole week, 10 minutes at a time. Just show up every day without expecting anything. It is very likely that you will fall in love with the practice, and the more you look into it, the better it reveals the path of conquering fear.
