Mantra ini digunakan untuk melucuti senjata lawan atau benda apapun yang mereka pegang. Expelliarmus termasuk dalam defensive spell.
Jadi jika kalian menggunakan mantra ini, maka senjata apapun bentuknya yang sedang lawan kalian pegang akan lucut dengan sendirinya.
Defensive spell ini maksudnya adalah spell yang digunakan untuk mengurangi efek spell lawan, contoh lain seperti mantra protego.
Stupefy
Pelafalan: STEW-puh-fye
Stupefy Jenis: Jinx
Tingkat: Sulit
Stupefy adalah mantra yang digunakan untuk membuat target pingsan, mantra ini mengeluarkan kilatan cahaya berwarna merah dari tongkat.
Selain efeknya yg bisa membius target (benda hidup), Stupefy juga bisa menghentikan gerakan target (benda mati).
Efek bius bekerja seperti halnya pada obat bius muggle, dan jangka waktu tergantung seberapa banyak korban yg terkena mantra ini.
Counter-spell dari Stupefy adalah Rennervate.
Finite
Pelafalan: fi-NEE-tay
Finite merupakan mantra yang fungsinya adalah menghentikan seluruh efek mantra yang sedang bekerja.
Dan Finite juga merupakan counter-spell yang general (berfungsi hampir untuk semua jenis charm/jinx/hex spell).
Mantra terakhir yang akan kita bahas adalah mantra Finite Incantatem. Pelafalannya adalah:
fi-NEE-tay in-can-TAH-tem.
Efek mantra ini sama dengan Finite, hanya saja mantra satu ini fungsinya untuk menghentikan sekaligus lebih dari satu spell yg bekerja.
Tambahan
Counter-spell adalah mantra yang memiliki efek kontra (berlawanan), entah itu menggagalkan, menghilangkan ataupun melindungi target dari efek sebuah mantra.
