A government lotto is a lottery run by the government of a country. It is available in every Canadian province, forty-five U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and Mexico. Opponents of the lottery call it dishonest and argue that it is simply a way for the government to avoid paying its fair share of taxes.
A transparency activist recently criticized a government lotto. Called "Pictures 12," the Government Lottery Office's new game draws numbers from zodiac signs. The transparency activist says the lottery is a ploy to extract money from citizens, which is a violation of the U.S. set-thi . However, the benefits of a government lotto far outweigh the drawbacks of an ineffective system.
