An Introduction Into Community Poker
The Texas Holdem poker game can be played with anywhere from 2 players on up to 10 players. The dealer is identified by a button at a table. A small and big blind are placed in clockwise order from that button. The small blind is approximately half of the big blind. Texas Holdem poker blinds have been replaced by Antes because of a very good reason. This gives the eight other players at the table the opportunity to fold their cards for no cost. Two people are considered to be already in the hands if they are under the blinds.

There are different ways in which a player can bet in the game. The first option is for the player to match the previous player's wager. The second option for anyone looking to place a bet is to raise. You can raise the amount of your wager. Fold is another option that should be used when you want to pack cards instead of playing with them. Finally, check gives the player the chance to stop betting. However, this can be used only when any player has not made a bet in that particular round.

The dealer will now "burn" another card on the table and then deal a single card, known as the turn card. There are now 4 cards at the table. In Texas Holdem however, each player may only use 3 of these cards to make their 5-card poker hand. Poker action starts with the small blind, and the dealer acts last. Check, Bet or Raise.

Simply put, fixed limit poker has fixed betting limits that you must play. If you play at a $1/$2 poker table, the maximum allowed bet in each round is $1. The final round is $2. These rules apply to raises. A no-limit table means just that; there are no betting limits. There are no betting limit and you have the option to raise your entire pot at any time. Fixed limit is less popular than no-limit, and you won't see it on TV tournaments, but if you are still learning the game it can help keep you out of betting trouble since you can't be drawn into large bets by other players.
