How did Roundup Ready or Roundup get their names?
What exactly is Roundup Ready? Roundup Ready is a trademark name for a patented line of genetically modified crop seeds that are resistant to the glyphosate-based herbicide, Roundup. These crops are called Roundup Ready crops.

Who was the first to invent Roundup?
ラウンドアップ (Monsanto Chemist) first discovered Glyphosate as an herbicide within Roundup. The majority of herbicides at the time were preemergent. These were applied before the crop and weeds developed. Glyphosate's post-emergent activity in tackling large amounts of grass weeds and broadleaf herbicides was very different. This, combined with its unique environmental properties (soil activation, rapid decay, no carryover etc.) as well as toxicological properties (extremely safe for beneficial and mammals) it created a new paradigm in the field of herbicides.

When was Roundup first launched?
Roundup(r) is an herbicide with broad spectrum, was first introduced to the market in 1974. https://farangmart.co.th/author/roundup11wzub921/ grew to be a top-selling agricultural chemical. It was initially employed on railroads, in ditches, and on the fields during the growth seasons. This allowed farmers and ranchers to manage grass and broadleaf plants that had sprouted from the soil.

ラウンドアップ was Roundup Ready GMOs.
Monsanto scientists recognized the potential benefits Roundup(r) which is a recombinant DNA product, could bring to farmers following the technological breakthroughs of the 1970s. Ernie Jaworski led a small group that included Steve Rogers, Rob Horsch and me to work on this problem. The early 1980s saw the team had developed the first methods to insert genes in plants. ラウンドアップ shifted to the development of viruses-resistant plants, which are resistant to insects and also Roundup.

It was known that glyphosate likely inhibited the biochemical pathway of plants that produce aromatic amino acids (animals and humans do not have this pathway, which is why Roundup has a high degree of mammalian security) and that glyphosate was broken down extremely quickly in the soil by microorganisms. Our study had already revealed both plant- and microbial genetics that conferred higher herbicide tolerance. Roundup Ready plants were first tested on the field by USDA in 1987. It was the first field test of Roundup Ready tomato plants. A few decades later it was discovered that the Roundup Ready gene that would become the most important characteristic of the Roundup Ready crop was discovered. It was later isolated and then introduced into the plants.

Let's look at soybeans as an example, by answering the questions, what are Roundup Ready soybeans? and how are Roundup Ready soybeans constructed? Roundup Ready soybeans are genetically engineered to be able to resist Roundup, the herbicide. Every soybean plant which has been given the Roundup Ready gene has been implanted into it prior to when it is put to plant. This makes them resistant to glyphosate. ラウンドアップ means that farmers can apply herbicide to eliminate weeds without killing their crop.

As you can observe, the introduction of Roundup Ready crops in 1996 changed the way farmers and agricultural scientists work! Roundup resistance was quickly recognized by farmers , and widespread adoption began. https://devpost.com/armstrongcoley056 , over 90% of U.S. cotton and soybeans use Roundup Ready crops. Roundup Ready crops simplified and improved weed management systems. This resulted in increased yields of crops. Also, ラウンドアップ reduced the need to tilde, cut down on equipment costs, and made harvesting easier due to fewer the amount of weeds. An environmental major benefit is the increased adoption of conservation cultivation: farmers are able to reduce their energy consumption as well as GHG emissions, and also improve soil structure while preserving soil structure. In 2013, this was equivalent to the removal of 28 billion kilos of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, or equivalent to removing 12.4 million vehicles off the road for a single year (Source: PG Economics).
