How to prevent pterygium?

How do distinguish true pterygium from false pterygium?

It can occur at any part of the corneal limbus, is static, has no tendency to progress, and is bridge-shaped without adhesion across the corneal limbus, and the probe can pass between the pterygium and the eyeball. True pterygium generally occurs at 3 or 9 o'clock in the limbus, and the probe cannot pass between the pterygium and the eyeball.
What are the clinical symptoms and timing of treatment of pterygium?
The early pterygium is very thin, the color is light pink or gray, and there is often no uncomfortable feeling. At this time, the pterygium grows very slowly or not long, which is called the stationary phase. With the stimulation of the external environment, coupled with the chronic inflammation of the conjunctiva itself, the pterygium of most people becomes red, thickened, and stretches toward the cornea. This is called the progressive phase. Advanced pterygium must be treated.
How is pterygium treated surgically?
Progressive pterygium is often congested, red, and thickened. After it has grown into the surface of the black eye, if it is still rapidly extending, it must be surgically removed immediately. If surgery is performed after the growth into the pupil area, the cornea in the pupil area will be scarred by the operation, which will still affect vision. The recurrence rate after pterygium surgery is 25% to 45%, and since the use of microsurgery and corneal stem cell transplantation, the recurrence rate has decreased from 7.7% to 15.4%. �-ray irradiation or radium irradiation after surgery, or local injection of pingyangmycin or mitomycin, are also measures to avoid recurrence. Patients should also cooperate with the doctor's treatment, actively treat conjunctival inflammation after surgery, eat less spicy food, wear sunglasses when going out, and avoid external stimulation.
