Causes of eye floaters
The most common cause of eye floaters is atrophy of the vitreous. As the eye ages, the vitreous jelly shrinks and begins to sag and slough off or build up in lumps from the inside of the eyeball. The vitreous detaches from the retinal surface and may also cause eye floaters. During this process, the retina is stimulated, often causing the patient to see flashes of light and ring-shaped eye floaters. Sometimes this detachment also takes away a small part of the retina. Retinal detachment during the procedure allows blood to leak into the vitreous, which requires an immediate visit to an ophthalmologist.

Middle-aged and elderly people over 40 years old. Patients with high myopia. Others such as patients with intraocular inflammation or retinal vascular disease. Those who have undergone cataract surgery
Are eye floaters serious?
Most eye floaters are harmless. However, if you experience sudden changes in your eyes (such as a flare-up of eye floaters and flashes of vision), you should see your ophthalmologist promptly. Regular eye exams are also important to keep your doctor aware of any changes so they can help detect eye floaters and other abnormalities.
How to treat eye floaters?
If you have retinal tears and detachments that damage your vision, your ophthalmologist may recommend surgery or laser treatment to remove it. In most cases, however, eye floaters do not require treatment because of the high risks associated with surgical treatment of eye floaters.
