How to keep connected to music from your country, even if life has been somewhat boring over the past 10 years

How you are doing? I am a Russki boy who came to America searching for better living conditions. In Russia I didn't have a lot of money and definitely not within the middle class. It wasn't me but my family. As an early adult in Russia the money wasn't a necessity. We had to come up with ways of earning money. There were many different schemes, but most of them similar to alcoholics asking neighbors for just a few dollars to fill their shared vodka bottle. The idea is similar. We would find ways to make some quick dollars and purchase bread. We always had food cravings.

So, I made it to America. There's nothing like New York City, Brooklyn, Brighton Beach. This is a place that reminds me of the home of my childhood. It's noisy and dirty, it smells like Russia, and the people there are rude. I've spent quite a bit of dollars there, mostly in Russian restaurants and bookstores and music shops.

I am a music lover as much as I enjoy reading books. There is now a way to access Russian literature on Kindle which is what has been happening recently. I have stopped buying hard-copy books. In addition, I don't have enough space in our home and my wife is a hoarder so I do my best to avoid contributing to this. I also stay away from buying new stuff lying in my home that I don’t need, since I have no place to put them. Although stacks and stacks of books seemed smart at the beginning, once they got older they became dull and boring. After that, I moved them into my garage.

Music is another matter. Because my job requires me to drive frequently I also listen to a lot of music. Although I'm a Russian-born native, I'm not a fan American music. I don't like rap or hip hop. I'm also not a fan of the trendy stuff that children like to dance to. I really love the old Russian music, including the songs from jail that are very specific to Russian music world. They're still very popular in Russia , even after twenty years. Youtube is a must these days. So I can spend hours watching music on YouTube when I'm working or when I get home from work.

I have a great playlist of 300 songs that I am in love with. https://mp3.lol Because I have this treasure, I can easily become accustomed to listening to music. 300 songs is a good amount. The problem is that I can't find the Internet to download them to play in my car. This is due to the fact that I use it to navigate and driving. I do the preparations at home. I've in the middle of my list now, I record a few songs from Youtube to mp3 files, and then I burn those MP3s to a CD using my laptop. After that, I take the CD into the car and listen. This site I discovered allows me to download an entire Youtube playlist and print all songs. Each song will be converted to mp3 format and stored on my computer. It's then easy to convert it to an audio CD. Sometimes, I'm a mess and just make the wrong choice and make a data CD. It won't play on my old car stereo. It's incredible how technology operates when audio is recorded. I don't even require an internet connection in order to play mp3. I simply plug the CDs into the car stereo and music from Russia plays in Manhattan whenever I drive through.


It's easy to get videos on Youtube and save the videos as MP3 files. Then, you can put them on your Smartphone. My friend connected his phone to his car stereo and it started playing excellent quality audio in less than 2 seconds. Also, he was able to stream Pandora radio as well as Spotify, so it's not that fast of Internet to stream this. I think this is the next thing I'll test. However, I'll be cautious about using free WiFi.
