What is an Activist? An Activist is a person who gets up every morning to make sure that social justice and freedom are not compromised in any way. They are not only concerned with what is right but what is wrong as well. Activists have made it their life mission to make sure that the freedom and civil rights of others are not affected in any way. agency might say that they put their faith in the general public when they say that being an activist is not like being an accountant or a lawyer.

Many people get confused by the word "activist". Some think that the word means a person who goes to rallies, but that is not the case. In fact, activism can only be defined as participation in political action and civil disobedience. Activists go beyond making speeches to make sure that social issues and problems are heard and addressed by those who can actually solve them.

Activists do not just talk about these issues; they fight for them on a daily basis. They do not allow privilege to stop them from working on the issues that need to be solved. While some may look at being an activist as something glamorous, most activists are average people just like you and me. Some of them have never had much success with computers and are quite uneducated, while others are educated and have degrees in social work or other areas.

Most activists are not paid for what they do. They receive no wages, no benefits and usually are not allowed to unionize. There is a difference between being an activist and being an organizer. Being an activist is more than just talking and petitioning the government. The money is provided to help pay for organizing costs and other forms of activism.

Many in the nonprofit and worker cooperative sectors are also very active in this form of activism. Many of the groups do not even get anything if they are not a part of a larger campaign. One of the newest forms of what is an activist investor is what is called shareholder activism investing.

Activist investors use what is known as activist investor strategies. These strategies take an active role in how the money is invested by a shareholder. They are able to pressure the corporations to change certain policies or change the board of directors which can affect the companies' stock price. This form of corporate governance is becoming increasingly popular with a number of different sectors of the economy. One of the sectors that has benefitted greatly from what is known as shareholder activism is the technology sector.

A lot of activists are starting to come from the financial industry and specifically from the hedge funds that are based primarily in Europe. One of the main concerns of these activists is corporations doing what is in their best interest to avoid paying taxes. agency of the European based hedge funds have been calling on European governments to do what is in their own best economic interest to do. Activist investors such as the one who runs the website Activist Stock Report are calling on these corporations to stand up for what is right for the companies' shareholder.
