Online video storage is unstable. Sites may close down or cease business. Here's how to back up your social video content on your laptop.

My personal story is not an epic one... I was born, went to school, worked, labored, finally achieved something online.. There are also some challenging moments that made me think that it was all over. One such moment was when my home computer became dark. After some fiddlingaround, shifting my old desktop to the new one, and a bit more tinkering, I was eventually successful in restoring all the work on that drive. It took 3 days of sweating, figuratively crying... I've learned one thing. Automatically or manually backup my work from the day using Dropbox and personal FTP servers, so that nothing will ever be lost.

This is not the most ideal option. The more data you store in your online storage, the more have to spend to protect it. It's easy to use and seems to be quite safe. It's also extremely simple to download from any internet-connected device. But what happens when the internet isn't available? I like keeping my laptop close at hand for those instances. It's my last line of defense against losing data. There are two drives that are connected to form a RAID stack therefore they copy one another and ensure that a copy is left in case one of the two HDDs is damaged. I copy only data there, usually, so I seldom do I make my laptop work. I am hoping 2 drives won't go out in the same day..

Another day of sadness was few months ago.. I take care not to lose all of my work, as I said earlier, I now duplicate it many times and can access it wherever internet is available. This was Periscope. It was something I often used couple of years back, and during the protests in 2020, I participated in several live streams. But Periscope TV suddenly closed, and all videos will disappear within several weeks. What do I do? I'm looking to download all the videos to store them offline on my laptop. These videos are very close to my heart. They were the last time I spent with my best friend in Covid.

The site I am using is one I regularly visit, it helps me download videos from Youtube, Instagram and Facebook as well as other websites that have the bulk of my live streams. I'm a fan of politics and underground movements, so I take a lot of videos of live events, and store them for future use. I then post them to my YouTube channel and save it onto my computer. This is just how I am. Additionally, it lets me cross-post videos on different platforms. I can not only post YouTube videos on Facebook and upload the video onto Facebook and let it be its own video on its own. It turns out that I have over 3TB of live streams I've made in the last eight years. Periscope Lives won't go away.. It helps me a lot.

It's flawless. After opening the video I'd like to watch, I copy its URL by clicking the sharing link. Then, I visit the video downloader's website and copy the URL. I can then download the video to my computer or to my desktop. I can also save it to my computer to utilize on other platforms. I can even give it to my friends. Periscope might not be accessible on all platforms. The site is able to manage the m3u8 file other sites download for you. Then, I go to the website for video downloaders and paste my video link where they want it. After that, I hit the on the big button. The video isn't downloaded to my personal computer, but it's available online and can be played online as the player downloads small fragments of files in a sequence.

Windows copy can be used to join these fragments in a single file. This is due to the format of video used to create the video fragments: Mpeg TS or transport stream. The video format used for the fragments is called Mpeg TS. It permits new users to stream from to the center of the stream without interruption. It also keeps data off the browser, as it downloads 360x10 seconds files instead of the standard 1hr file. That means that when you only watch 25 seconds of the stream it will download only 4-6 fragments. (It will download 3-4 fragments from the current 25 second stretch plus 1 or 2 additional fragments should you continue to watch the stream). This lets you reduce the amount of data you need by downloading only 25 seconds of video stream.
