James Whitfield Thomson
A former sales executive and U.S. Navy navigator, James Whitfield Thomson was a member of the writers' workshop at Andre Dubus. He lives in Natick, Massachusetts, and is currently working on his debut novel, Jukebox King. His previous fiction is set in New Orleans and is also adapted for film. He has been featured on NPR and the BBC, and has received awards from the National Book Critics Circle and the American Book Award.

Born in Pittsburgh, Ohio, Thomson attended Harvard College on a scholarship and served in the Navy. After college, he earned a Ph.D. in American studies from the University of Pennsylvania, and worked in the finance industry before becoming a novelist. He now lives in a Victorian farmhouse west of Boston with his wife. He recently won a Massachusetts Council for the Arts grant for his novel, Agni, and is working on a sequel.
