The origin of chuckaluck is not known. Some believe it came out of the West Coast Slots, where it was popularly played. It may have been seen in other locations, but no one knows for sure. However, the luck and roll was used and this is what gave rise to the "Chuck-A Luck” game.

Today, Luck plays a larger role in North America casinos than in Spain and Great Britain. Instead of just three random dice chutes, players can place their bids to win a "grand jackpot". The goal is to win as many spins as possible by either getting your "lock" (three coins in a lock when everyone else has rolled one) or knocking out your opponents. If more people win the pot, the person with the most cows at session's end wins regardless of who played. This is a World War II simulation game known as the "cash cow", in which military personnel were provided food rations while they were fighting in WWII.

These games can be fun for many people but they can also cause problems to those with poor math and computer skills. Keep in mind that these games have a high house edge, which means that chances of winning are different for each person.
