Travel Writing: Is It All You Think It Is?
As we all know, rates rise during high seasons. They will peak during peak seasons. This does not apply to hotels, villas and other accommodation. Peak season is when airfares and transportation costs are at their highest. Avoid peak season holidays if possible. This way, you not only save on your travel expenses, but you get to avoid the crowds as well. Bali is a popular tourist destination.

Bali is an incredible island of Indonesia. It is referred to as "the island of 10,000 temples" due to the fact that there are so many temples and shrines. Spirituality is at the core of Bali's existence. Every single day the island sees major religious festivals somewhere throughout and, literally thousands of tiny thankful offerings. The mere mention of Bali can bring up thoughts and images of exotic beauty as well as endless spirituality. The island of ten thousands temples is all that, and more. Eat, pray, and love all that is Bali!

I had intended to stop near the town of Tulamben to have a look at the wreck of a WW2 US cargo ship that was only about 30m offshore. Unfortunately, it was also approximately 30m under the water. We were offered diving and snorkeling gear, but we decided to skip it and go for our accommodation. To keep the kids amused Eileen started a game of "I Spy".

Reviews are the foundation of any rental property's success. They give you insight that no description or photo can give. Look for consistency across the review's and keep in mind that one or two bad reviews against a heap of excellent reviews should not entirely account for the general business practice. Any concerns, email the owner and gauge how to take based on their response.

Surfing can happen in all weather conditions, except lightening. But good surfing happens in great conditions. Plan your surfing vacation around the weather if possible. Research your destination climate and what time of the year is the best to surf. For at least a few hours of good surfing, you should plan to stay longer than a fortnight.
