Forex Traders Will Find The Candlestick Chart Useful.
Profitable trends occur only once or twice a year. The rest of the time the markets trend sideways. For example, the Nasdaq would be considered to have been in a sideways trend for the past few months.

Volume. A solid uptrend, or downtrend, should be paired with increasing volumes. Beware if the price is going higher but the volume is low. This could be an indication that the market has lost its energy to support its upward trend.

I trade both short bullish and short bearish verticals. I will only discuss the bullish trade in this discussion. The bearish will be left as an exercise for you.

If the DJIA wants to be viable, it has to maintain its 20 day moving average. The DJIA must reach that level or it could drop to 11,000. A rebound can result in a pivot point closer to 11,234.

Bullish abandoned baby - This is a rare and reliable 3-candle pattern that reverses in an up trend. It is also the opposite of its bearish moniker. A long black candle is followed immediately by a gap that turns into a spinning top or very short candle of either color.
