4PRINSIP DALAM AIKIDO
-CHUSIN RYOKU (tenaga dari garis pusat) : Salah satu dasar Aikido adalah prinsip mempertahankan suatu garis pusat lurus pada tubuh, dengan didukung postur yang kuat, konsentrasi, dan kekuatan pernafasan.
-KOKYU RYOKU (tenaga pernafasan) : yang dihasilkan pada titik dimana tenaga kita yang terfokus mengalami kontak dengan orang lain. Menyertakan kepekaan, pernafasan, dan ritme secara bersamaan kedalam suatu tenaga yang terfokus.
-SOCHU RYOKU (tenaga terfokus) : Tenaga yang dihasilkan dari menyatukan keseluruhan tubuh
-AIKI RYOKU (menguasai sempurna keseimbangan) : energi yang dimiliki ketika komponen-komponen dari postur yang benar, garis terpusat, pernafasan, ledakan tenaga dari energi yang terfokus, penentuan waktu, dst., menjadi satu sehingga kita mencapai tingkat tertinggi dari keseimbangan sempurna. Dapat dikatakan bahwa "ki" adalah "penguasaan keseimbangan secara sempurna".
Arti dari "ki" pada pernyataan " selaraskan ki anda" mengartikan kepekaan terhadap mitra anda, dan mencakup semua elemen yang datang dari keadaan/bentuk mitra anda, sehingga tenaganya, kecepatannya, penentuan waktunya dan ritmenya adalah bagian dari arti ki pada pengertian ini.
