10 Things To Do When You Visit Bali - Some Personal Highlights
Kuta is the perfect place for you if your day starts at midnight. Bali's nightlife generally begins around midnight so don?t surprise if you see quiet streets in the evening. Bars and pubs provide a wide variety of entertainment options. Some clubs host live bands and DJs. Others are known for their "fashion shows" and sexy dancing. Many bars in Kuta make a house mix with Arak (rice spirit). Arak packs a powerful punch!

1993 was the first year we drove up the west coast to Medewi, where we discovered the surf beach. Beyond that the west coast is apparently pretty boring. Most people travel this way to catch the ferry to Java. However, snorkeling and diving are possible on the far NW side of Bali.

As with all places of interest in Bali, the first thing we saw were souvenir stalls. The hawkers, however, were very controlled and we spent several hours watching the boats as they floated in the water while our grandkids went fishing. A lot of the food found in Bali's rivers and lakes has been eaten. But a man gave them a little bit of mushyworm to put on their hooks, and then helped them cast out. In an hour they caught about a dozen fish about the size of a large coin. With their time up they tipped them all back into the lake. I doubt that the locals were too happy about this. They probably sold these fish to aquariums.

Ubud is a very relaxed place to do a lot of things. There are art markets, dance shows, temples, quaint villages, villagers, and a few good restaurants. This is a great place for a few days of relaxation and to connect with the natural world. A driver is recommended for longer stays, especially if you are looking for excitement. It takes 1.5 to 2 hours to drive from Ubud, Kuta or Seminyak. This is a great choice if you want to just chill. This is not the case if you're looking for a balance between adventure and relaxation or at least a chance to have both.

Bali is a great place to relax and enjoy a tranquil holiday. Miles of sandy beaches, exotic wildlife, rivers and lakes are some of the most beautiful features that Bali holds. Surfers are also familiar with Bali.

You will likely want to see some historical or cultural sights when you plan to spend your holiday at Bali. Great, make sure you see a temple to begin with and maybe if you have the change, visit a ceremony. My mistake on previous holidays was seeing too many. Nearly every daytrip included temple visits. That's the reason why I recommend just one temple, and it's a big one so you're allowed to skip the rest.

Of the three options covered, a Seminyak Villa Rental would be the most ideal for a balance of privacy, shopping, dining, spas, excitement and relaxation and yet it is still conveniently located in Bali and just a short distance from Kuta.
