How to keep up with music from your country, even if you have been living in the USA for 10 years

What are you doing? I am a Russki teenager who came to America to build a better future. In Russia, I was not rich. I was poor. Not me, per-say, but my family. Russia's young adults weren't financially dependent as they grew older. As such, we had no choice other than to figure out ways to earn our own money. There were a variety of strategies. Most of them looked like alcoholics who asked their friends for some money to purchase their vodka bottles. The idea is similar. We would find ways to make a few dollars and purchase bread. We were always hungry.

So, I finally got to America. It's far away from New York, Brooklyn and Brighton Beach. That place really reminds me of my childhood home. It's loud, it's filthy, full of Russian spoken words, people are rude,, just a normal Russian city life. I've spent a fair amount of money there, mostly in Russian cafes and restaurants, as well as in books and music stores.

I am a huge fan of music and I enjoy reading books. In the end, it's easy to find Russian literature on Kindle. So I stopped buying hard-copy books. My wife, who's almost an avid collector isn't able to fit much in her house and I try to stay clear of buying unnecessary stuff. Books in stacks looks smart for a while, but after that they only looked sad until I put them in the garage where there's some space left for my things..

However, music is a different thing. Because I drive and work in a car, it is essential that I listen to a lot of music. Because I'm a Russian immigrant, there is no way that I would like new music in the USA. I simply don't like rap, hip hop metal, rock and pop. Also, all the modern stuff that kids love to dance to. The old Russian music is something I treasure, as well as the Russian-specific songs that were played in jail. They are still extremely loved in Russia even after twenty years. Yes, they put everything on Youtube these days. This is why I am constantly having Youtube playing music whenever I return home from work or just after work.


After some time, I discovered an extensive playlist that included more than 300 songs I enjoy. The playlist is a precious trove of music that I play on repeat every day. It has more than 300 songs. However, I'm not able to find the Internet when I want them to listen in my car. This is because I use it to navigate and driving. I do all the preparations at home. I've in the middle of my list, I record a few songs from Youtube to mp3 files then I burn the mp3s onto a CD with my laptop. Then I bring CD to the car to listen. The website I came across allows you to take an entire Youtube playlist and print all songs. Each song can be converted to mp3 format and saved on my computer. Then , it's simple to convert it into audio CD. Sometimes I make mistakes and create the wrong choice and make a data CD. It won't play on my old car stereo. It's amazing how technology works when audio is recorded. I don't even require an internet connection in order to listen to mp3; I simply insert CD into the car stereo and music from Russia plays through Manhattan whenever I drive by.

It's cheap and easy to convert videos from Youtube in mp3 format and you can download them to your Smartphone.
