We found that 24-25 players is the best number for starting your season. We mix and match until we have that number now on about every team we field. My personal teams often lose 1 player before the start of the season, when they decide that football's not for them. We lose 1 player per game as the season progresses due to illness, injuries, grades, etc. Most games and practices have between 22 and 23 kids. 22 children is my ideal number. This means I have 11 against 11 during our fit and freeze drills during football training. If there are 22 players on the team we can run our football games against a scout defence of 11.
