The Professional Gambler
I'd like to begin by explaining what this piece is about, or, more specifically, what it is not about. The Professional Gambler does not make a lot of noise or attract attention to himself. He or she will not be the one that is making huge high-roller bets. The real professional is a reserved, quiet and committed player. The skilled gambler is aware that to keep ahead of the game the competition, it is essential to consider gambling as something that is a business, a profitable business.

Professional gamblers do not "go out for a day (or evening) of betting." It is because the professional would never assume that he or she would be playing for the entire the night. The professional will usually decide within 30 minutes if they want to keep playing or cease. When a professional gambler is going to play, it's with the specific intent to succeed, not to amuse himself and others. This is work. This is work. You see, there is no way to know how long it takes to either achieve success (or lose enough) however, the professional will know when either one of those limits has been reached and will have the discipline to recognize it and act accordingly.

It's possible that you've played a professional at times. Most likely, you will not remember the experience. One thing that will truly draw attention to professional players is the fact that the winner is then stopped. They are not satisfied to play and keeps playing because they're "out for an evening" of gambling. If professional gamblers are looking to entertain themselves they attend a show or a movie. Gambling isn't just an "activity" like most tourists see it. You can gamble all night in Vegas or Atlantic City. This is the way that recreational gamblers play. They find it very easy to rationalize...something like this; "Well I played all night and it only cost me $200. games to play is not so bad for an evening of entertainment and no cost drinks." It's called the tourist mentality. Sure, you'll hear about stories of someone who was in Vegas and won millions. click here for more . It is possible. However, you will probably hear the familiar tale that goes:
"I was up three or four hundred, but I lost everything back." Professionals will never claim such a thing. If one's intention is to make a profit, then they will recognize that 3 to 4 hundred dollars is a very healthy profit and is likely to be gone.

Professional gamblers are known as guerrilla fighters. They are not there for a marathon playing spree. The pro is in the game to be successful. It doesn't take long to either win or lose, but definitely not every day. It is possible to be able to catch a winning streak but the pro will know that streak and ride through to the close. Most of the time however, the professional's play will only last long enough to make the day profit or lose the maximum. The casino cannot ever see the money that professionals win. The casino cannot afford to lose the pro.

The expert is far too smart to believe there is an algorithm that can consistently beat casinos, no matter which game they are playing. The most successful strategies and betting methods will be used by professional gamblers to improve their odds of winning. Very few decisions will actually be taken at the moment of the game. The majority of professional's decisions are taken before they even approach the game. Pros will stick to their current strategies and betting patterns. It is unlikely to see any professional "chase his money." A professional can, and will, take a loss. It's what happens. I prefer to compare the professional gambler to salespeople who work on commission. There will be days where you make very little or none at all, and may lose money if travel expenses are included. The professional gambler becomes aware of the whole of his game. It's not just about "how much did you win or lose today?" It's more like "How do I stand in the month ahead or for next year?"

I'd like to add a word on professional poker players. They are a class by themselves! Many poker players don't think of themselves as gamblers. They believe that playing poker is a sport of skill and that they are extremely skilled. The professional poker player is not the same as what I wrote earlier. In the near future, I'll likely write an article on them. A very interesting breed indeed!
