Catching a snake.

Keep the pillowcase on the ground and move away. The linen may be claimed once the snake has left.
If you find the above method too direct, you can try shooing the snake into a big garbage can. A broom can be used to guide the snake into the bin once it's on the ground. You do not want to injure the snake by hitting or pushing it inside. A smooth side will prevent the snake from climbing out of the bin, which will allow for a safe relocation.
You can eliminate snakes inside the house by using a shirt and pillowcase. Over the snake, place your shirt or light blanket and scoop it up. Place the shirt and snake in the pillowcase.
