A glue trap seals weeks of searching for a venomous zebra cobra in north Raleigh.
Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, in the end a glue trap captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.
The glue was removed from the cobra's body by putting it in a red bucket and transporting it to a safe location.
An earlier video interview had captured a striped snake crawling onto a porch on Sandringham Drive from the siding of a house. A hood was visible wherever it turned its head.
When officers confirmed it was the snake, they walked back from the camera crew before moving in to try and capture it.
911 call from that same home sparked the search in the early morning Tuesday.

ARLINGTON, N.C. Despite hours of consultation and preparation of law enforcement and animal control officers, a glue trap finally captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday, bowing out a nearly 48-hour ordeal that gained national attention.
After guiding the cobra into a bucket, the glue over its body was carefully removed.
An earlier video interview had captured a striped snake crawling onto a porch on Sandringham Drive from the siding of a house. Looking around, its hood was visible as it lifted its head.
After confirming it was the snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back before moving in to capture it.
On Tuesday, police searched the same home after receiving a 911 call there.

Her neighbor Joan Nelson expressed relief at the end of the ordeal.
She said she felt safe and really happy. Now that I'm outside, I can go on my deck and have a walk. Though I do feel a little sorry for the snake.
A striped snake lies out on a porch in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has disappeared.
A zebra cobra can spit 9 feet long and is faster than most snakes, making morning dog walks extremely hazardous. The African Snakebite Institute states that the snake is very dangerous. Venom can cause the nervous system to shut down in victims.
Anyone exposed to the poison of the cobra would experience immediate pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. A high fever and breathing difficulties would follow, which could lead to respiratory failure.
A veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, Salina Locke, treats all sorts of animals there.
The species of cobras that are found in this area do not bite. It is more likely that they will spray their venom . They are very accurate and go straight for the eyes.
Due to the risks, Locke does not recommend this snake as a pet.
People tend to get bitten most often when they're sleeping. A study shows that those who are bitten may suffer long-term health issues.
There was a police search of a home near 6917 Chamonix Place where a cobra was last observed on Tuesday afternoon.
This home was visited four times by police during the month of March. Approximately half a mile away, they spotted the zebra cobra on a porch, prompting them to return on Monday and Tuesday.
There are records in the county that indicate Keith and Rebecca Gifford reside at that address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Gifford shows several photos of snakes that Christopher Gifford also owns.
Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers on his TikTok account. According to one of his posts, he claims to have a 7-foot zebra cobra.
