Raleigh police seal days-long hunt for venomous zebra cobra with glue trap.
Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
To remove the glue fully from its body, the cobra was guided into a red bucket and moved to a safe location.
A striped snake was captured by WRAL cameras crawling onto a front porch on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. Looking around, its hood was visible as it lifted its head.
Before moving in to capture the snake, Animal Control officers moved camera crews to the back.
The search was sparked by a 911 call from the same home early Tuesday.

North Carolina, Raleigh Following a 48-hour saga that garnered attention from across North Carolina, a venomous zebra cobra was captured on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, capping a 48-hour saga that attracted national attention.
A red bucket was used to guide the cobra into a safe location so that the glue could be removed from its body completely.
An earlier image captured by WRAL show the snake scrabbling to the front porch of a house on Sandringham Drive, crawling through the siding. Its hood was visible when it raised its head to look around.
After confirming the snake was the one they were trying to capture, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back.

She said the ordeal is over and she is relieved.
It makes me feel much safer, she said. Now that I can go outside, I can walk on my deck and go outside. However, I feel bad for the snake.
There is a striped snake in the yard of a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has gone missing.
The snake, a zebra cobra, is extremely fast and can spit up to nine feet away, making a walk with the dog even scarier. The African Snakebite Institute states that the snake is very dangerous. An animal's venom could cause the victim's nervous system to shut down.
Those stung by the poison would experience severe pain, swelling, rashes, nausea, and diarrhea as a result. In the next few hours, a heavy fever would occur, as well as respiratory difficulty.
Dr. Salina Locke, a veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, treats all kinds of animals.
The species of cobras that are found in this area do not bite. Venom is more likely to be sprayed by them, she said; they are very accurate and aim straight for the eyes.
Due to its dangers, Locke advises against keeping this snake as a pet.
Sleeping is when most bites occur. A bit could cause health issues for years, research shows.
During a search on Tuesday afternoon, police searched the home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near where the cobra was last seen.

In March, there was an issue with the animals at that home. Zebra cobras were seen on a porch a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday, after this was initially reported.
The county records show that Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. There is a Facebook account for Keith Gifford that shows several photos of snakes that he claims are owned by his son, Christopher.
Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers on his TikTok account. His posts claim he has a 7-foot zebra cobra.
