Glue trap seals 28-day search in north Raleigh for venomous zebra cobra.
Despite the efforts of animal control officers and law enforcement, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
A red bucket was used to guide the cobra into a safe location where all glue could be removed from its body.

The snake was seen crawling onto a porch of a house on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. When it lifted its head to look around, the top of its hood was visible.
When Animal Control officers confirmed the snake was the one they moved camera crews back before they attempted to catch it.
Early Tuesday, a 911 call from that home sparked the search.

The city of Raleigh, N.C., is the state capital. Following hours of consultation and preparation by police and animal control officers, a glue trap finally captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday, highlighting the nearly 48-hour ordeal across North Carolina.
Cobra was placed in red bucket and moved to a safe location to fully remove glue from its body.
An earlier image captured by WRAL show the snake scrabbling to the front porch of a house on Sandringham Drive, crawling through the siding. As it lifted its head, the hood was visible.
The Wildlife Control officers moved camera crews back after confirming that this is the snake, then went in to attempt to capture it.
This same residence had called 911 early Tuesday, sparking the search.

The ordeal is over at last, said neighbor Joan Nelson.
She said she feels much safer now and is very happy. My deck and I have become more comfortable outside now. However, I feel bad for the snake.

The snake, a zebra cobra, can spit up to 9 feet and is faster than most snakes, making even a morning walk with the dog scary. The African Snakebite Institute states that the snake is very dangerous. A victim's nervous system might shut down upon ingestion of the venom.
Those stung by the poison would experience severe pain, swelling, rashes, nausea, and diarrhea as a result. A severe fever and breathing issues could cause respiratory failure.
Dr. Salina Locke, a veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, treats all kinds of animals.
The cobra species in this group doesn't typically bite. It is more likely that they will spray their venom . They are very accurate and go straight for the eyes.
Despite the risks involved, Locke does not recommend keeping this snake as a pet.
In most cases, bites occur when people are sleeping. Bite victims may suffer health problems for years, research reveals.
In the afternoon of Tuesday, police searched a home near the street where the cobra was last spotted, at 6917 Chamonix Place.
In March, there was an issue with the animals at that home. The zebra cobra was found about a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.
At that address, Keith and Rebecca Gifford inhabit the house, according to county records. An account linked to Keith Gifford's name features several photos of snakes belonging to his son, Christopher.
Christopher Gifford has 460000 followers on TikTok. According to one of his posts, he claims to have a 7-foot zebra cobra.
