Glue trap seals 28-day search in north Raleigh for venomous zebra cobra.
Despite the efforts of animal control officers and law enforcement, a venomous zebra cobra was captured on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.
The glue was removed from the cobra's body by putting it in a red bucket and transporting it to a safe location.
An earlier video interview had captured a striped snake crawling onto a porch on Sandringham Drive from the siding of a house. When it lifted its head to look around, its hood was visible.
After confirming it was a snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back of the area and attempted to capture it there.
A 911 call from the same location prompted the search early Tuesday morning.

N.C., and Raleigh, N.C. Following hours of consultation and preparation by police and animal control officers, a glue trap eventually entrapped a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, bowing out a nearly 48-hour ordeal that gained national attention.
To completely remove the glue from its body, the cobra was seated in a red bucket and transported to a safe location.
WRAL's cameras caught the snake the previous day crawling onto the porch of a house on Sandringham Drive. Its hood was visible when it raised its head to look around.
Before moving in to capture the snake, Animal Control officers moved camera crews to the back.
911 call from that same house sparked the search at the beginning of Tuesday.

The ordeal is over at last, said neighbor Joan Nelson.
My feeling of security has improved, she said. It feels as if I can now go outside and enjoy the scenery. Despite that, I feel terrible for the snake.
A striped snake lies out on a porch in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has disappeared.
A zebra cobra, which can spit up to nine feet, is faster than most snakes, so even a morning stroll with the dog becomes a fearsome event. It is a very dangerous snake according to the African Snakebite Institute. A victim's nervous system could be shut down by the venom.
One who is poisoned by the cobra would immediately feel pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. In the next few hours, a heavy fever would occur, as well as respiratory difficulty.
An enthusiastic veterinarian, Salina Locke treats all kinds of pets at Avian and Exotic Animal Care.
Cobras typically do not bite. The venom from them, she said, is typically sprayed. She said they are extremely accurate and shoot straight for the eyes.
Despite the risks associated with this snake, Locke does not recommend it as a pet.
In most cases, bites occur when people are sleeping. Research shows that people who are bit may suffer health issues for years.
During a search on Tuesday afternoon, police searched the home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near where the cobra was last seen.
A police officer visited that home four times in March for an animal issue. Approximately half a mile away, they spotted the zebra cobra on a porch, prompting them to return on Monday and Tuesday.
There are records in the county indicating Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. In a Facebook profile associated with Keith Gifford's name, there are several pictures of snakes he says his son Christopher owns.
TikTok user Christopher Gifford has more than 460000 followers. The author of the post claims to have a seven-foot zebra cobra.
