North Raleigh venomous zebra cobra hunt is over after glue trap takes care of the problem.
Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, a glue trap snared a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
To remove the glue fully from its body, the cobra was guided into a red bucket and moved to a safe location.
An earlier video interview had captured a striped snake crawling onto a porch on Sandringham Drive from the siding of a house. Looking around, its hood was visible as it lifted its head.
Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.
911 call from that same home sparked the search in the early morning Tuesday.

Raleigh is a North Carolina city. Despite hours of consultation and preparation of law enforcement and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a Raleigh porch Wednesday night, capping an incident that drew widespread attention.
After guiding the cobra into a bucket, the glue over its body was carefully removed.
A striped snake was spotted earlier in the day crawling out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive, onto the front porch of a house. Its hood was visible when it raised its head to look around.
When Animal Control officers confirmed the snake was the one they moved camera crews back before they attempted to catch it.
Early Tuesday, a 911 call from that home sparked the search.

It was a relief to neighbor Joan Nelson to have the ordeal over.
I feel a lot safer, said she. I feel extremely happy. My deck and I have become more comfortable outside now. The snake, however, was in a terrible position.

The snake is a zebra cobra and can spit up to nine feet long, making even a morning dog walk a daunting task. It is a very dangerous snake according to the African Snakebite Institute. It could cause a victim's nervous system to shut down.

Anyone who has been poisoned by the cobra will feel pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. A high fever and breathing difficulties would follow, which could lead to respiratory failure.
At Avian and Exotic Animal Care, veterinarian Salina Locke treats all kinds of pets.
The cobras in this species are not typically biting. The venom sprays more readily, since it is so accurate. they aim right for the eyes, she said.
A pet of this snake is not recommended because of the risks, according to Locke.
Most bites occur when a person is sleeping. Bite victims may suffer health problems for years, research reveals.
In the late afternoon on Tuesday, police searched 6917 Chamonix Place, near the place where the snake was last spotted.
Four officers were dispatched to that home for an animal issue in March. The zebra cobra was spotted on a porch a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.
Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address, according to county records. In a Facebook profile associated with Keith Gifford's name, there are several pictures of snakes he says his son Christopher owns.
On TikTok, Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers. His posts claim he has a 7-foot zebra cobra.
