A glue trap ends a days-long search in north Raleigh for a venomous zebra cobra.
Following many hours of consultation and preparation by Animal Control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, capping a 48-hour case involving North Carolina media.
We guided the cobra into a red bucket and took it to a safe location so that we could fully remove the glue from its body.
As WRAL's cameras captured it earlier in the day, a striped snake slithered out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive and onto a porch. In looking around, the hood of the vulture was visible.
When Animal Control officers confirmed the snake was the one they moved camera crews back before they attempted to catch it.
An early morning 911 call from that same home prompted the search.

ARLINGTON, N.C. Following hours of consultation and preparation by police and animal control officers, a glue trap captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, coming to an end in North Carolina after nearly 48 hours of turmoil.
Glue was removed from the cobra's body by placing it in a red bucket and moving it to a safe location.
Earlier in the day, WRAL's cameras caught the snake crawling out of a siding onto a porch on Sandringham Drive. Lifting its head, its hood could be seen.
After confirming the snake was the one they were trying to capture, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back.
This same residence had called 911 early Tuesday, sparking the search.

It was a relief to neighbor Joan Nelson to have the ordeal over.
'I feel very safe now,' she said. Now that I'm outside, I can go on my deck and have a walk. It's very sad for the snake, though.
A zebra cobra has been missing from a north Raleigh neighborhood where this stunted snake is seen.
A zebra cobra can spit 9 feet long and is faster than most snakes, making morning dog walks extremely hazardous. In the opinion of the African Snakebite Institute, snakes are very dangerous. An animal's venom could cause the victim's nervous system to shut down.
An individual hit by the snake's poison would feel immediate pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. Following a heavy fever, breathing problems would result, leading to respiratory failure.
At Avian and Exotic Animal Care, veterinarian Salina Locke treats all kinds of pets.
Cobras of this species do not bite. Generally, they squirt their venom a lot and shoot straight for the eyes, she said.
Despite the risks involved, Locke does not recommend keeping this snake as a pet.
Sleeping is the most common time when people are bitten. Bite victims can experience health problems for decades, research shows.
In the late afternoon on Tuesday, police searched 6917 Chamonix Place, near the place where the snake was last spotted.
