Raleigh police seal days-long hunt for venomous zebra cobra with glue trap.
Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, a glue trap was finally able to capture the deadly snake on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
The glue was removed from the cobra's body after being guided into a red bucket and brought to a safe location.
The WRAL cameras captured the striped snake crawling out of the siding of a Sandringham Drive house, onto the front porch. In looking around, the hood of the vulture was visible.
Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.
This same residence had called 911 early Tuesday, sparking the search.

North Carolina. Despite hours of consultation and preparation of law enforcement and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was captured with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, capping an event that garnered attention throughout the state.
Cobras were placed inside red buckets and taken to a safe location so the glue could be removed completely from their bodies.
The WRAL cameras captured the striped snake crawling out of the siding of a Sandringham Drive house, onto the front porch. A hood was visible wherever it turned its head.
Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.

The ordeal is over at last, said neighbor Joan Nelson.
'I feel very safe now,' she said. Now that I can go outside, I can walk on my deck and go outside. Even so, I feel kind of sorry for the snake.
A zebra cobra has been missing from a north Raleigh neighborhood where this stunted snake is seen.
Zebra cobras are fast, can spit up to nine feet, and can spit at high speeds, making even morning dog walks dangerous. In the opinion of the African Snakebite Institute, snakes are very dangerous. It is possible that the venom can damage a victim's nervous system.
Anyone who has been poisoned by the cobra will feel pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. In the next few hours, a heavy fever would occur, as well as respiratory difficulty.

Salina Locke is an experienced veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, where she treats all types of pets.
Cobras typically do not bite. The venom sprays more readily, since it is so accurate. they aim right for the eyes, she said.
The snake is not recommended as a pet by Locke due to its risk.
Sleeping is the most common time when people are bitten. Researchers found that bit individuals could suffer health issues for years to come.
Police searched a home on 6917 Chamonix Place on Tuesday, near where the cobra was last seen.
Four officers were dispatched to that home for an animal issue in March. Following the sighting on Monday and Tuesday of the zebra cobra on a porch about half a mile away, they returned.
There are records in the county that indicate Keith and Rebecca Gifford reside at that address. In a Facebook profile associated with Keith Gifford's name, there are several pictures of snakes he says his son Christopher owns.
His TikTok account has more than 460000 followers. The author of the post claims to have a seven-foot zebra cobra.
