Glue trap seals 28-day search in north Raleigh for venomous zebra cobra.
Despite the efforts of animal control officers and law enforcement, the glue trap finally caught a venomous zebra cobra on the porch of a home in north Raleigh on Wednesday night, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.
The glue was removed from the cobra's body after being guided into a red bucket and brought to a safe location.
The WRAL cameras captured the striped snake crawling out of the siding of a Sandringham Drive house, onto the front porch. In looking around, the hood of the vulture was visible.
When Animal Control officers confirmed the snake was the one they moved camera crews back before they attempted to catch it.
911 call from that same house sparked the search at the beginning of Tuesday.

N.C., Raleigh Despite hours of consultation and preparation of law enforcement and animal control officers, a glue trap eventually entrapped a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, capping an event that garnered attention throughout the state.
As soon as the cobra was guided into the red bucket, it was moved to a safe location where the glue could be fully removed.
As WRAL's cameras captured it earlier in the day, a striped snake slithered out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive and onto a porch. When it lifted its head to look around, its hood was visible.
After confirming it was a snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back of the area and attempted to capture it there.
Searches were launched early Tuesday after the same home made a 911 call.

Joan Nelson said she was relieved the ordeal was over.
She says she feels safe and happy now. It feels good to be able to walk on the deck and outside. The snake seems to have a lot of problems, though.

A zebra cobra can spit 9 feet long and is faster than most snakes, making morning dog walks extremely hazardous. Apparently, African Snakebite Institute believes the snake is very dangerous. As a result of the venom, a victim's nervous system could shut down.
Someone who is bitten by the poison of a cobra would feel pain, swelling, gastrointestinal irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. It would then lead to a high fever and breathing problems, which could cause respiratory failure.
A veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, Salina Locke, treats all sorts of animals there.
Cobras of this kind usually do not bite. They spray their venom more often -- they are very accurate and attack straight in the eye, according to her.
The snake is not recommended as a pet by Locke due to its risk.
Most bites occur when a person is sleeping. Bite victims could be plagued with health problems for years, studies show.
There was a police search of 6917 Chamonix Place Tuesday afternoon, near the street where the last sighting of the cobra was reported.
In March, there was an issue with the animals at that home. On Monday and Tuesday, they returned after spotting the zebra cobra on a porch about a half mile away.
The records of county government indicate that Keith and Rebecca Gifford reside at this address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Gifford shows several photos of snakes that Christopher Gifford also owns.
