One glue trap ends days of searching for venomous zebra cobras in north Raleigh.
Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was captured on Wednesday night by a glue trap, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.
The glue was removed from the cobra's body by putting it in a red bucket and transporting it to a safe location.
A striped snake was spotted earlier in the day crawling out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive, onto the front porch of a house. Lifting its head, it was able to see its hood.
Camera crews were moved back after the officers confirmed it was the snake before attempting to catch it.
911 call from that same home sparked the search in the early morning Tuesday.

ARLINGTON, N.C. Despite hours of consultation and preparation of law enforcement and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was captured with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, capping an unusual 48-hour saga that garnered national attention.
Cobras were placed inside red buckets and taken to a safe location so the glue could be removed completely from their bodies.
Earlier in the day, WRAL's cameras caught the snake crawling out of a siding onto a porch on Sandringham Drive. In looking around, the hood of the vulture was visible.
Before moving in to capture the snake, Animal Control officers moved camera crews to the back.
A 911 call from the same location prompted the search early Tuesday morning.

The ordeal is over at last, said neighbor Joan Nelson.
I feel much safer and I am really happy, she said. Having gone outside, I feel as though I can now go on my deck and walk around. Though I do feel a little sorry for the snake.
There has been a missing zebra cobra in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a striped snake is laying out on a porch.
The snake, a zebra cobra, can spit up to 9 feet and is faster than most snakes, making even a morning walk with the dog scary. In the opinion of the African Snakebite Institute, snakes are very dangerous. The venom can cause the nervous system to shut down.
A person hit by the poison would experience pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. The symptoms would be a heavy fever and breathing problems that could lead to respiratory failure.
At Avian and Exotic Animal Care, veterinarian Salina Locke treats all kinds of pets.
The cobras in this species are not typically biting. They spray their venom more often -- they're very accurate, she said.
Despite the risks involved, Locke doesn't recommend buying this snake for a pet.
In most cases, bites occur when people are sleeping. Research shows that people who are bit may suffer health issues for years.
There was a police search of a home near 6917 Chamonix Place where a cobra was last observed on Tuesday afternoon.
Four police officers visited the home in March to investigate an animal problem. Following the zebra cobra's spotting on a porch a half mile away, they returned on Monday and Tuesday.
The county records show that Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. An account linked to Keith Gifford's name features several photos of snakes belonging to his son, Christopher.
Christopher Gifford has 460000 followers on TikTok. A zebra cobra that is seven feet long is claimed by him on one of his posts.
