Two Forms emerged out of Hepworth's friendship with Margaret Gardiner, the political activist and early proponent of British modernism who, in 1979, established the Pier Art Centre in Stromness, Orkney. Dudmaston Hall, Shropshire, is well-known for its extraordinary collection of abstract and modern art, which was assembled by Sir George Labouchere ( ).
