Following many hours of consultation and preparation by officers from Raleigh police and animal control, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
The cobra was guided into a red bucket and taken to a safe location so that the glue could be removed completely.
At youtube.com, a striped snake crawled out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive onto the front porch of a home earlier in the day. When it lifted its head to look around, its hood was visible.
Camera crews were moved back after the officers confirmed it was the snake before attempting to catch it.
Early Tuesday, early Tuesday morning, a 911 call from inside the same house sparked the search.

ARLINGTON, N.C. Following a 48-hour saga that garnered attention from across North Carolina, a glue trap captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, capping a 48-hour saga that attracted national attention.
To completely remove the glue from its body, the cobra was seated in a red bucket and transported to a safe location.
As WRAL's cameras captured it earlier in the day, a striped snake slithered out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive and onto a porch. Lifting its head, it was able to see its hood.

The ordeal has ended, said Joan Nelson, her neighbor.
She said she was really happy and that she felt much safer now. After this experience, I feel like I can go outside, walk on the deck, or even go for a jog. The snake, though, must have felt bad.

The snake is a zebra cobra and can spit up to nine feet long, making even a morning dog walk a daunting task. In the opinion of the African Snakebite Institute, snakes are very dangerous. An animal's venom could cause the victim's nervous system to shut down.
An immediate reaction to the poison of a cobra is pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. In addition to a heavy fever and breathing problems, respiratory failure could also result.
Avian and Exotic Animal Care is owned and operated by veterinarian Salina Locke.
Cobras of this type are rarely known to bite. The venom from them, she said, is typically sprayed. She said they are extremely accurate and shoot straight for the eyes.
The snake is not recommended as a pet by Locke due to its risk.
Most bites occur when a person is sleeping. Bite victims may suffer health problems for years, research reveals.
Police searched a home on 6917 Chamonix Place on Tuesday, near where the cobra was last seen.
Four police officers visited the home in March to investigate an animal problem. On Monday and Tuesday, they returned after spotting the zebra cobra on a porch about a half mile away.
The county records show that Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. An account linked to Keith Gifford's name features several photos of snakes belonging to his son, Christopher.
Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers on TikTok. His post claims he has a zebra cobra that is 7 feet long.
