A glue trap seals weeks of searching for a venomous zebra cobra in north Raleigh.
Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, a glue trap was ultimately deployed to capture a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
To ensure fully removal of the glue from the cobra's body, we guided it into a red bucket and took it to a safe area.
WRAL's cameras caught the snake the previous day crawling onto the porch of a house on Sandringham Drive. When it lifted its head to look around, its hood was visible.
The Wildlife Control officers moved camera crews back after confirming that this is the snake, then went in to attempt to capture it.
Searches were launched early Tuesday after the same home made a 911 call.

A striped snake was spotted earlier in the day crawling out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive, onto the front porch of a house. Looking around, its hood was visible as it lifted its head.
When Animal Control officers confirmed the snake was the one they moved camera crews back before they attempted to catch it.
911 call from that same house sparked the search at the beginning of Tuesday.

Joan Nelson expressed relief that the ordeal is over.
It makes me really happy and I feel much more secure, she said. My deck and I have become more comfortable outside now. The snake, however, was in a terrible position.
There is a striped snake in the yard of a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has gone missing.
Even a morning walk with your dog becomes dangerous due to the snake's ability to spit up to nine feet and be as fast as a zebra cobra. It is very dangerous, according to the African Snakebite Institute. A victim's nervous system could shut down if stung with venom.
A person hit by the poison would experience pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. A high fever and breathing difficulties would follow, which could lead to respiratory failure.
Salina Locke is an experienced veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, where she treats all types of pets.
The cobras in this species are not typically biting. Venom is more likely to be sprayed by them, since their venom hits straight for the eye since they are so accurate.
Despite the risks associated with this snake, Locke does not recommend it as a pet.
In most cases, bites occur when people are sleeping. Research shows that people who are bit may suffer health issues for years.
In the late afternoon on Tuesday, police searched 6917 Chamonix Place, near the place where the snake was last spotted.
This home was visited four times by police during the month of March. The zebra cobra was spotted on a porch a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.
There are county records showing that Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. His Facebook account shows several pictures of snakes he claims are owned by his son, Christopher, according to the account.
Chris Gifford has more than 460000 followers on TikTok. On one of his posts, he claims to own a 7-foot zebra cobra.
