North Raleigh's days-long search for a venomous zebra cobra ends with a glue trap.
Following many hours of consultation and preparation by Animal Control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, capping a 48-hour case involving North Carolina media.
The glue was removed from the cobra's body after being guided into a red bucket and brought to a safe location.
A striped snake was spotted earlier in the day crawling out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive, onto the front porch of a house. In looking around, the hood of the vulture was visible.

After confirming the snake was the one they were trying to capture, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back.
Early Tuesday, early Tuesday morning, a 911 call from inside the same house sparked the search.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Following hours of consultation and preparation by Raleigh police and animal control officers, a glue trap captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, bowing out a nearly 48-hour ordeal that gained national attention.
After guiding the cobra into a bucket, the glue over its body was carefully removed.
As WRAL's cameras captured it earlier in the day, a striped snake slithered out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive and onto a porch. Looking around, its hood was visible as it lifted its head.
After confirming the snake was the one they were trying to capture, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back.
911 call from that same house sparked the search at the beginning of Tuesday.

Neighbor Joan Nelson said the ordeal was over.
It makes me really happy and I feel much more secure, she said. Now that I can go outside, I can walk on my deck and go outside. It's very sad for the snake, though.
There is a striped snake in the yard of a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has gone missing.
A zebra cobra, which can spit up to nine feet, is faster than most snakes, so even a morning stroll with the dog becomes a fearsome event. The African Snakebite Institute states that the snake is very dangerous. The venom can cause the nervous system to shut down.
Someone who is bitten by the poison of a cobra would feel pain, swelling, gastrointestinal irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. Following a heavy fever and breathing problems, you might lose your breath and may die.
The Avian and Exotic Animal Care is run by veterinarian Salina Locke, who treats all types of pets.
The cobra species in this group doesn't typically bite. They spray their venom more often -- they're very accurate, she said.
Despite the risks involved, Locke doesn't recommend buying this snake for a pet.
The majority of bites occur during sleep. Researchers found that bit individuals could suffer health issues for years to come.
During a search on Tuesday afternoon, police searched the home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near where the cobra was last seen.
In March, there was an issue with the animals at that home. In the afternoon, the zebra cobra was spotted on a porch half a mile away.
The records of county government indicate that Keith and Rebecca Gifford reside at this address. His Facebook account shows several pictures of snakes he claims are owned by his son, Christopher, according to the account.
His TikTok account has more than 460000 followers. He claims to have a zebra cobra seven feet long on one of his posts.
