With time your door weight can slowly pull the screws out of their designated holes and create loose hinges. When this happens the hinge pins is not going to fit into the hinge barrel properly and they will eventually fall out so you have broken hinges. If you have broken door hinges you'll want to replace them a new hinge that is similar in dimensions on the broken one.
There are three reasons for broken hinges. The first is really a loose screw hole. You need to inspect your door hinge in order to find where it really is loose. The screw holes at the sight from the looseness are what must be repaired. You should first get rid of the screws using a regular screwdriver but make sure to retain the door hinges up against the doorjamb along with the door before carrying this out. Pivot hinges should have someone help support the door up as you take the hinges off. Place the door on its side so your hinges face toward you. The next step is measuring the screw length. Then take this length and transfer it to a wood dowel. Set this dowel down and hold it down while you work to size using a handsaw.
Place the end with this dowel piece in to the first screw hole once you have dipped the end in wood glue. Push it as being far since it will go in the original screw hole. Repeat the process until all from the original screw holes are full of dowels. Once this is accomplished you need to create a ball of wood filler and place it on top of the original screw holes which has a knife until all with the gaps are filled. Let it dry for thirty minutes after which sand the counter. While an assistant props up door up you must set the hinges back into their regular seats and set the screws back to the screw holes until they're tight and never move. The new dowels and putty holes must be sufficiently strong to maintain your new hinges available and never allow them fall again.
The second cause is often a missing hinge pin. When you look with the hinge if the hinge pin is just not there you need to look around the immediate area to get it. It will seem like a lengthy metal rod. This might be the source of the issue. Once you find it you must tap it back in to the door using a hammer.
The third cause may be a broken door hinge. If you are replacing the whole hinge you must remove them a screwdriver and drive them to a hardware store which you could purchase an exact-or close enough-replacement. Then retain the door up and fix the new hinges.
